Seriously...

The boys have been sick the entire month of May! Before we left for the beach I had taken both of the boys, on separate occasions, to the doctor. Tyler had a sinus infection and Caleb and pink eye. A 10-day round of antibiotics was prescribed. They finished the medication treatment up while we were at the beach. Ahhhh…. glad they are feeling better…but wait…they are not better. The week we returned both boys had snotty runny noses and some congestion at night. So...mommy gave them Benadryl for the next week but they were still sick. Allergy season in TN has arrived so…Zyrtec for the both of them for a week. Better yet??? NOPE! So maybe Dimetapp will do. NOPE! That’s it…they are still sick so they are going back to the doctor! The verdict is…severe sinus infections for both boys. Both boys are now on a 14-day cycle of antibiotics. The doctor seemed concerned that Caleb’s was oozing out of his eyes and that Tyler’s really couldn't’t be seen. He was pretty certain that this round would take care of Caleb’s but not for Tyler. If Tyler is not any better after this round of treatment then he will be put on a second round for 20 days. He is worried that the drainage is stuck in the sinus cavity located at the temple. I sure hope it starts draining out because if not we will be off to the ENT. This is probably the cause for Tyler’s behavior issues over the past few weeks, which I think, is a good thing. At least we know now that he REALLY does’t feel well and is not just being mean or having emotional issues (like sensory).

Tyler did learn a new trick out of all of this. He learned that if he said he was “sick” that he didn’t have to go to school and he could stay with Grandma. It only worked once and I caught on real quick to what he was doing. One day on the way to school he said…”mommy, I can’t go to school today because I have allergies.” Well, you have to give him credit for trying.
